You Are Cordially Invited: Oct. 11 Taste of The World Event at Riviera Country Club
Join Us Honoring Olympians & Paralympians Who Have Returned Home After Competing in Tokyo
The LA84 Foundation is honoring Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Southern California who competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games by holding a celebratory event on Oct. 11 at Riviera Country Club that will bring together civic leaders, athletes, colleagues and friends.
We invite you to join us for this unique event – “Taste of the World” – which will feature an exciting range of dining selections inspired by Olympic host countries across the globe and expertly prepared by Riviera Country Club Executive Chef Edwin Roe. The atmosphere in Riviera’s historic clubhouse will be animated by the cuisine and cultures of France, Mexico, Japan, Italy and our hometown of Los Angeles. There will also be rare sports memorabilia and artifacts on display from the LA84 Foundation collection.

The efforts of the athletes will be celebrated, as will the legacy of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The event will also acknowledge the 36 years of service to youth from across the region by the LA84 Foundation as the legacy of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.
“During this reception, we will celebrate and honor Olympians and Paralympians from Southern California who recently competed in Tokyo, to recognize their sacrifice, spirit and character,” said Renata Simril, President & CEO of the LA84 Foundation.
“This event also provides a moment to reflect on the work of the organizations the LA84 Foundation supports and focus on the young people who need our increased support today. Accessible youth sports programs in Los Angeles have never been more essential in our communities.”
Several athletes from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as well as athletes from previous Olympic and Paralympic Games, will join the Taste of the World event. Among other dignitaries and leaders, the Counsel General of Japan in Los Angeles Akira Muto will be in attendance, as well as Olympian and IOC Executive Committee Member Anita L. DeFrantz – a President Emeritus of the LA84 Foundation.

This initiative is focused on providing greater access to golf for all kids and inspire a new generation of golfers in under resourced communities. One of a series of free clinics was recently held in Bell Gardens, with over 40 kids attending for golf lessons, games and refreshments.
